4 Great Parkruns in and around North Norfolk

Going for a run, enjoying the outdoors and beautiful parks around Norfolk is a great way to start your day. The free weekly 5km parkrun events that take place in the area provide a place for all runners and walkers to come together and encourage each other to improve their physical and mental wellbeing. Irrespective of ability or age you can connect with other people, make friends and accomplish personal goals.

One of the best things about these volunteer held events is that they occur across the region on Saturdays throughout the year so no matter if you are a beginner or wishing to add this to your training schedule you will be welcome to attend. Parkruns or walks are a great way to improve your wellbeing and can make a great new years resolution.

If you are just visiting the area on holiday or you are a local you will be able to find a number of park runs set in some of the most beautiful parks to keep yourself active. Our luxury North Norfolk holiday cottages are closely located to a number of these events and make a great place to relax and escape from everyday life. Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you would like any more information about our holiday cottages.

Located within the National Trust Sheringham Park, this parkrun has beautiful scenery to keep you going. Starting and finishing near the visitors centre each Saturday at 9am, this route has a mixture of terrain underfoot and is hilly in places. The trail goes through woodland, and opens up to show stunning sea views. Many of the runners and volunteers grab post run refreshments at the Courtyard Café, which is the perfect opportunity to make friends. This route is clearly marked by orange arrows, temporary signs and marshals.

Starting at Holkham Hall next to the lake this parkrun is again open to all users, no matter your pace. With a mixture of tarmac and hardcore roads this run can get a little muddy in wet weather and takes you past woods, historic buildings, monuments and Holkham Hall itself. Occasionally this run is postponed due to events at the hall so it is always worth checking before you leave.

Within Eaton Park, this three and a half lap parkrun starts near the Skateboard park and offers runners the opportunity to be timed or jog and walk at their own pace. This course is all hard surface running which is perfect for those who struggle with multi-terrain routes. There is also a post-parkrun coffee that you can attend at the Eaton Park Café.

A free and community weekly event, the Blickling parkrun also takes place on the National Trust Property. With beautiful views of Moorgate this just under two lap course starts in the Great Wood and goes past the lake, finishing on a downhill route which is perfect for sprinting to the finish.
