With the classic Sunday roast being so popular, many locations now offer additional days to their menu. Norfolk is lucky enough to be surrounded by fantastic farmers and local producers of high quality meat, whatever the day of the week or time of day, you will surely be able to find a carvery being served somewhere in North Norfolk. 

All of the places below are located close to our luxury North Norfolk holiday cottages, perfect for a short drive back to relax and sleep off your delicious meal. Here are some of our favourites.

The Lifeboat Inn

Located in Thornham on the North Norfolk coast, The Lifeboat Inn is in a beautiful setting overlooking the salt marshes. This dog friendly pub is dog friendly and has many areas to enjoy including the outside terrace, sheltered beer garden and the oak beam bar. Their roast includes a delicious meat of your choice from the menu, roast potatoes, vegetables and plenty of gravy. They also offer a fantastic children’s menu for smaller tummies.

The Gunton Arms

Situated in the heart of an extensive park, The Gunton Arms is surrounded by natural scenery and deer. The Cromer based pub has its meals lovingly created by Chef Stuart Tattersall who cooks with local ingredients and seasonal produce, including venison from the grounds and beef from the nearby Blickling Estate.

The Garden Terrace Café

The closest delicious roast to our holiday cottages, The Garden Terrace Café, located within the Holt Garden Centre, serves highly popular roasts on Wednesdays and Sundays. With high quality meat supplied by HV Graves butchers,  including locally sourced lamb and chicken, and both vegan and allergen free options, there is something for everyone to enjoy. There is also the option for a delicious dessert, as the homemade cakes and bake specials change daily. With a playground for the children and both indoor and outdoor seating, it’s a great place to stop for a delicious lunch.

Beef Roast Dinner

The Black Horse

A little further afield, The Black Horse is located just outside of the city centre. Perfect for stopping for a meal before heading back after shopping, the pub offers a selection of food suitable for all occasions. The Muddy Stilettos rated roast is also accompanied by gluten free and vegan roast options, catering for all.

The Wildebeest

Further towards South Norfolk, The Wildebeest is a relaxed fine dining restaurant with meals created by Michelin Star Patron Chef, Daniel Smith. The two or three course roast is available on Sundays with your choice of meat, only during lunch service.

Stoke Mill

Located on the outside of the city, a longer drive but worth it if you are heading out that way, the Stoke Mill is a stylish dining experience in a 700 year mustard mill. The food is crafted from local and organic ingredients where possible, served with all the usual trimmings. The roast dinners include chicken, pork and beef and are available at lunchtime.

There are no shortages of both fine dining pubs, and cafés to enjoy local produce, lovingly cooked by local, talented chefs.
