North Norfolk is home to a wide selection of rivers and coastline, so it’s not hard to see why sailing and exploring the area by boat is a popular pastime. The Norfolk Broads is famous for their lock-free waterways and abundance of wildlife and beautiful scenery, making them the perfect place to relax and explore and the wide expanse of coastline provide a great excuse to get out on the water.

Our North Norfolk holiday cottages are located in Holt, located close to many of the fishing towns and villages that line the coastline and in close proximity to the broads. Our luxury properties offer you the chance to escape and unwind, and explore the best of North Norfolk, if you would like to find out more about our properties, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

If relaxing on the water sounds like a great day out for you and your family, you will be spoilt for choice, from sailing boats to self-drive cruisers there are many opportunities and different ways you can try your hand at boating. Below you’ll find a range of our favourite local businesses offering boating and sailing experiences.

Discover the Broads with a hosted tour on a scheduled river trip. Running from April to November, your skipper will explain the history of the Broads and point out important sites and wildlife along the way. Light refreshments, a licensed bar and toilets are available on these trips which begin in Wroxham. The Broads Tours also offer day boat hire, where you can explore the area on your own accord.

For those that like a hands-on approach to getting on the water, Norfolk Outdoor Adventures, offer stand up paddling and kayak activities on the Broads. They offer a wide range of activities, from stand up paddle boarding instruction and coaching to guided kayak adventures.

Departing from Wells-next-the-sea, these harbour tours and private charters take place on a beautifully restored classic lifeboat, Lucy Lavers. There is a variety of options from a one hour sightseeing tour to a three and a half hour private charter including a meal.
