Norfolk Lavender

Norfolk Lavender

It’s no secret that Norfolk has an abundance of fauna and flora. The latter attracts tourists from all over the country to see its stunning displays of brightly coloured flowers. Embracing their heritage and the opportunity to teach, Norfolk Lavender has encouraged visitors to their farms to learn more about their plants and show their 100 acres of Lavender fields to guests. Located just over 40 minutes from our luxury holiday cottages, Norfolk Lavender is a great place to spend a day.

About Norfolk Lavender

A family-run and local business since the 1930s, Norfolk Lavender consists of planted fields, a farm shop, an animal garden, children’s play area, and a gift shop. Originally founded by Linneaus Chilvers the business has grown and diversified since its beginnings.

What to see and do at Norfolk Lavender

Housing the largest national collection of lavenders and over 150 different species, the main attraction remains the stunning flowers. Each year an additional ten varieties are added, including a rare variety from Japan. Perfect for any avid horticulturist in your life, the sheer abundance of flowers and rare species make this a perfect place to spend the day together.

Not only does Norfolk Lavender grow hundreds of plants, but it also uses these to create beautiful, fragrant and medicinal products which can be purchased within their gift shop. Catering for a range of  ailments, particularly headaches, stress and insomnia , all of the products contain lavender oil and flowers from their very own fields.

If you are visiting with children, or you are an animal lover, the Animal Gardens is a place not to be missed. Home to several species including meerkats, owls, peacocks and a racoon dog, you can even get up close and personal with the wallabies and rabbits.

There is also the opportunity to tour the site during the summer months, learning about the distillery and how their products are made. The fragrance from the lavender is extracted in order to make their famous products, all of which contain lavender that has been lovingly grown from the fields you can explore.
